02 · HW Check
Hardware generation
HW4 · high confidence. 2024 Highland Model 3 is generally Hardware 4 in the HW Check year map. Still confirm the camera cluster — VIN Pass does not decode the Autopilot board from the VIN.
- Highland body (2024+ headlights/interior) is the fast HW4 filter.
- Front camera cluster behind the windshield: HW4 housings are larger and sit differently than HW3.
- Fender cameras on HW4 cars are a different module than HW3.
- A software line that says “Full Self-Driving computer” does not tell you HW3 vs HW4.
Confirm camera/computer tells on HW Check — how to tell and the VIN / year rules. VIN Pass does not fake a precise VIN hardware decoder.
03 · FSD Check
FSD stack — not a purchase receipt
HW4 — FSD v14.3 Supervised (if FSD is actually on the car). Unsupervised: not from this computer.
- Hardware 4 runs full FSD v14.3 Supervised. That is not the same as Unsupervised, and it is not a purchase receipt.
- The VIN does not prove FSD was purchased. Check Controls → Software for Included Package.
- Tesla’s FSD transfer program ended March 31, 2026. Used inventory is whatever is already on this VIN.
In the car
- Sit in the car. Open Controls → Software. A 2023 screenshot is not a 2026 receipt.
- You want “Full Self-Driving Capability — Included Package.” That is the license attached to the vehicle.
- “Full Self-Driving Computer” is only the board. The software may still be for sale or on a subscription.
- Subscription / end date is temporary. When the seller stops paying, FSD leaves with them.
- Buy / Subscribe prompts mean the car does not currently include the package.
